A special box to celebrate your daughter having her first period containing a selection of goodies and treats for her to use and enjoy at her first bleed, and during every month after that. It's called a Menarche Box because that is the word we use for the first period.
This is entirely up to you, even a few items will make your daughter feel special and cared for. The idea is to give her what she needs to feel supported during her monthly cycle, and to celebrate her at the threshold moment of her first bleed. This means including practical things like a range of period products but also some unexpected surprises such as a piece of jewellery. You can choose what feels right for you and your daughter.
You can save the box to give it on the day of your daughter's first bleed.
You can give it to her in advance and go through everything in it together - this is a great option as going through the items will likely lead to really helpful conversations ahead of her first period. You'll have a chance to discuss what she might experience, need, and feel. And also cover off practical things like exploring period products together as well as answering any questions she has. Do try to keep at least one special item as a surprise for the actual day.
Don't worry if your daughter has already started her period; it's never too late to give her a Menarche Box.
